It matters little how much equipment we use; it matters much that we be masters of all we do use. - Sam Abell

peter tan is an Actual Day wedding & travel photojournalist based in the island state of Singapore, near the Equator and is an award-winning member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA)

after spending a couple of formative years in a commercial studio, a solo trip to Melbourne affirmed within him about the style and type of photography that he was leaning towards.

he believes, with all the artificial substances one consumes everyday, the last item that any human being wants are manufactured and fabricated memories. therefore, he remains silent and unobtrusive and his images are evidence of his philosophy for documenting memories, remembering them at their rawest and most honest,  be it his own or those of others.

he does not believe either in cliched poses or staging shots to pass them off as photojournalism. if one might wonder, he does do poses for portraits and group shots. first and foremost, a photojournalist, he seeks out to document life and viewed as a film in its entirety.

his photographic inspirations are the legendary National Geographic photographer Sam Abell, Australian photographer Marcus Bell and the New Zealand photographer Kate Machpherson.

he is open to exploring commercial work if the opportunities do arise.

currently, he is still struggling to learn Thai and is happily feeding the local void deck cat. (it has reciprocated his feelings out of the need for food)
